Submitted 2012-08-31 18:29:35 What is a Plot?
Plot is about movement, from a beginning to an end, from one situation to another.
Your plot is the map of your story, the route if you like, including all the side roads and detours.
Some elements of the louboutin plot may be existing situations or knowledge. For example your main character may have a fear of heights before the story begins. This will have an jordan pas cher impact on how giuseppe zanotti sneakers he reacts when he finds himself anywhere high up. Or there may be an impending earthquake.
Sometimes you start a plot but don't know the ending until you begin writing. Sometimes you know the plot so well you could draw a diagram. Whatever the case, to have an interesting story you must have a plot.
We could say that for a plot to begin two things are required. These are:
The goal, the target - that which is most desired by the hero
An impediment or obstacle between the hero and the goal
Adding other Elements
Now before you can have your character react to a situation, you must establish what sort of person he is. If mulberry outlet he decides on a certain course of action, this must tie in with his character. A kindly nun would not make a selfish choice; a greedy villain would not consider someone else first. This is where you can begin to weave character in to the plot.
Then you pit your character against one obstacle after another, always abercrombie milano making sure that he reacts according to character.
BUT what abercrombie pas cher Generate Web Traffic - A Three-Pronged Approach if suddenly he does something unusual, out of character? This in itself can serve as part of the developing story as it shows that either the character had been hiding his true colours or he was beginning to change.
Is Plot only about Outcomes?
Some say if the ending is too obvious you will fail to transmit a sense of discovery to your readers. But then why do we keep watching Buffy as barbour sale she has to fight impossible battle hollister after impossible battle when we know she will not die? The answer is because although we know she will win we want to see how she overcomes seemingly insurmountable odds, how she wins over that almost unconquerable evil.
So it's not necessarily the final outcome that is holds our interest, but rather the journey there.
So let's go back to the beginning where we spoke of two things being necessary, a goal and an event. There is usually one main goal in every hollister Nice envoie des galettes protéinées au story. It is the central conflict woolrich that maintains tension as the tale unfolds.
The goal is what your hero is shooting for. Therefore you must know what that is before you begin.
Once you know that, then you start to create situations which deflect him from his path, delay or threaten him. Think of things like mystery, difficult choices, physical threats, deception. All these can add dimension and tension to your plot.
Subplots
There can also be a number of less important goals. These are those side roads and detours we referred to earlier. These are called subplots.
The subplot runs alongside the main plot, sometimes running with it, sometimes ticking away in the background. It should help the main story to unfold.
Romance is often used woolrich outlet as a subplot. But the subplot must also have a goal, and there should also be obstacles in its attainment, although these can be fewer and more easily overcome.
Readers always want to see triumph moncler outlet over adversity - this barbour jackets is the main element that makes louboutin any plot come alive. So go back to your story and add some fizzle with a few nasty situations for your hero to battle woolrich sito ufficiale through.
